J.M. Koch's Hotel Bed & Breakfast will welcome you with warm Texas hospitality. The building was built in 1906 and used as a railroad hotel. You will immediately feel the presence of so many people come and gone through the door when you enter the building. It has been beautifully renovated and decorated with antiques. Guests continually comment on the homey feeling of the building and our outstanding home-cooked full breakfasts!
This historic hotel in D'Hanis, Texas was built in 1906. It has five large guest rooms with beautiful antique furnishings. The building is air conditioned and smoke-free and all rooms have their own tile-floor bathrooms. If you stay with us, we will serve you a full home-cooked breakfast. You will also enjoy comfortable beds and private baths and, of course very reasonable rates.
When you enter the front door of our bed and breakfast inn, you immediately feel as if you are at home again with Grandma. In the entry hallway hangs an electrified old lamp fixture and your eyes will focus on the beautifully restored wood floors. The J.M. Koch Hotel Bed and Breakfast was built with some of the first brick made from the D'Hanis Brick Factory using a press D'Hanis bought from Luling & Lockhart (L & L) while sampling the clay in this area for brick making.
Outside the upstairs hallway is the favorite sitting spot for most of our visitors - a large upstairs front porch where you may sit and rock in one of the many rocking chairs while watching small-town activity below in D'Hanis. Leave your cares behind you and read a book, sip a drink, visit, or just SIT!!
Hosts Hilo and Candy Del Bosque have owned the building since 1995, and worked on the renovation for 3 years before opening the doors as a bed and breakfast in January of 1998. Since opening we opened we have enjoyed guests from as far away as Guatemala, Alsace, France, Italy, and Alaska. We have been approved for a Texas Historical Marker for the building.
